The Bin110 Story - Behind the Pour
From Financial Planning to Purposeful Hospitality
"I spent 30 years in the world of financial services, dealing with paperwork, compliance, and the ups and downs of the financial markets. What I truly enjoyed, however, were the stories behind the people and the families that I worked with each day.
In 2017, Tallie and I opened Bin110, and fell in love with the stories behind the bottle. How it was made, where it was aged, and the generations of families that produced it.
I stepped away from the world of finance, but didn’t step away from my love for personal relationships. Sharing a good pour and a good story is at the heart of the bourbon and wine community, and it’s what we do at Bin110."
— Andy, Founder & Executive Bourbon Steward
Our Philosophy: Upscale, Not Pretentious
We built Bin 110 on a simple guiding principle:
Create a place we would patronize if we didn’t own it.
Located in what locals call "The Bubble" of Lake Norman, we wanted to bring the world-class selection of downtown Charlotte right to our backyard.
We believe you shouldn't have to drive 20 miles for a rare allocated pour or a perfectly balanced cocktail.
Whether you’re sitting in one of our leather chairs for a quiet Tuesday tasting or singing along to a local band on a Saturday night, you’re getting an elevated experience without the ego.
Executive Bourbon Steward
Andy isn't just an enthusiast; he is one of the few Executive Bourbon Stewards in the region, authorized to teach the Certified Bourbon Steward course by the Stave & Thief Society in Louisville—the only whiskey education program recognized by the Kentucky Distillers Association.
Educating the Palate: Andy has certified over 1,500 people as Bourbon Stewards.
The Staff Standard: At Bin 110, education is a requirement. Every bartender on our team is a Certified Bourbon Steward (or currently in training), ensuring that when you ask a question about our 500+ whiskies, you get a knowledgeable answer.
A Partner to the Industry: Because of our volume and reputation, Bin 110 regularly hosts CEOs, Master Distillers, bringing leaders of the industry right here to the Charlotte / Lake Norman area. Brands such as:
Bardstown Bourbon Company / Green River Distilling
Michter’s
Penelope
High West
Brown Forman (Woodford, Old Forester)
Why Bin 110?
People often ask my wife Tallie and I about the name. It’s a nod to our roots in wine. In a traditional cellar, wine is organized by Bin Numbers—if you want a specific bottle, you look for its bin on the wall.
When we found our home in Suite 110, the name clicked. Whether you’re here for our 100+ wines or our 500+ whiskies, you’re exactly where you need to be: Bin 110.
The Bin 110 Experience
A Tale of Two Bars
The Enthusiast’s Retreat: During the week, we are a chill, conversational space. It’s the perfect time to explore a flight, talk shop with our bartenders, and discover a new favorite rye or scotch.
The Music Destination: When the weekend hits, the energy shifts. We are proud to be one of the premier live music venues in Lake Norman, featuring high-quality local talent that keeps the room moving. In fact, we book over 150 nights of live music each year, making us one of biggest supporters of live music in the area.
