On October 14, Andy Upchurch is turning Bin 110 into a blind tasting room. Four top-quality Napa Cabernet Sauvignons, poured side by side with no labels in sight, and one of them is the brand-new 2023 release of Opus One, one of the most recognized and collectible wines in Napa Valley. You'll know the Opus is on the table. You just won't know which glass it's in. Taste, compare, trust your palate, and make your pick. At the end of the night we reveal all four and find out who found the Opus.

Why Opus One
Few wines hold the place in Napa Valley history that Opus One does. It was founded in 1979 as a partnership between two legends: Napa pioneer Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Bordeaux's Château Mouton Rothschild. The idea was to bring Bordeaux tradition and Napa fruit together in a single estate wine, and it became one of the first high-profile bridges between the two regions, helping prove that a California Cabernet-based wine could stand on the international fine-wine stage.
For this tasting we're pouring the newly released 2023 vintage. The 2023 growing season was long and moderate, and the winery describes the result as a wine of freshness, balance, and elegance, aged 19 months in French oak. We'll let you decide for yourself. We're just not going to tell you which glass it's in.
The Challenge
Here's how the night works:
Four Napa Cabernets, poured blind
Four exceptional Napa Cabernet Sauvignons, all in the glass at once, no labels, no order of reveal. One is the 2023 Opus One. The other three stay a secret until the end.
Compare, then commit
Taste them side by side, go back and forth, and make your call. There's no wrong way to do it and no lecture on what you should be tasting.
The reveal
At the end of the tasting we unveil all four wines and find out who found the Opus, and who fell for one of the other three.
Four serious Napa Cabs on one table is a good night anywhere. Tasting them blind, with the Opus hiding in plain sight, is what makes October 14 worth locking in.

The Chocolate Pairing
Each of the four wines will be paired with artisan chocolates from Cassinelli Chocolates, selected to complement the tasting and add another layer to the evening. Hors d'oeuvres are on us as well.
